Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 17

Prices retreated today under the TA but still leaves open the possibility of a W4 for today.  So, if we are seeing the beginning of another rally for the next few weeks, then we should see a 5 count complete early next week with a higher high. However, if prices go below 2572 then we should see lower lows in the weeks ahead. The uncertainty over tax reform could be the excuse of a continued correction. Personally, I hope they lower the tax rate for pass through entities to 20% and give the 25% to C corporations. The real engine of this economy is small business but then again we all know the person in charge doesn't care about that. Whatever the case, if it passes, I come out well ahead in the next 4 years and for that I have to thank Trump for doing a good job of convincing poor and middle class to vote for him. Come to think about it, for a man that has never worked for someone else and was born with a silver spoon, it is amazing that poor and middle class people feel like he is "one of them".

Have a great weekend!

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 16

The market seems to have found a bottom after weakening for several sessions. The rounding top pattern is invalidated with today's possible W3 and the close is is above the TA, so we'll see if the "correction" is over in the next session or two when the TA gets back to bullish.

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 14

The market has continued to sell off but was able to bounce off 2566 support, which has now held 3 times. If prices break this level, then bearish momentum will accelerate. Looking at the pattern, one could argue for a rounding top with a target of 2535 and they key for bears is for prices to keep closing below the Trend Average.

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 13

The market closed higher today but not enough to stop the TA from turning bearish. So, for the first time in a quite a while, the short term trend is bearish. With that, I am going to prices will continue to head down or correct sideways until it is ready to rally again towards the end of the year to a new high and perhaps the final leg of the rally. I think people have forgotten by now that markets can go down sometimesw.

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 10

The market closed flat today but now it finds itself under the TA and this is the first negative week since early September. I guess technically one could call it a correction but we need to see stronger selling and lower lows to see a longer lasting decent decline. Support at 2566 seems critical to the current uptrend, so until that breaks, the path of least resistance is up.

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 8

Prices dived in the morning but managed to recoup losses by the end of the session. The close is still above the Trend Average, so it's too early to tell of the trend will pause at this point. Considering the time of the year we are in and the current state of the economy, there is more room to the upside for the time being.

Elliott Wave Stock Market Update - November 8

Prices closed the day challenging ATH and the trend continues to support a push towards the 2600 level. The market seems unstoppable for now and given the current season, we might see even more euphoria in the next few weeks with or without a consolidating correction. It's been exactly 1 year since the current rally started and the last time the market saw a 5% correction. I doubt anyone reading this blog has been constantly short during this time but this has been a painful year for bears. As I've said for years, trend is your friend.
